Monday, 9/16/24 Day 7

Rye Patch Recreation Area #39, NV

Our departure goal is 9:00 AM.  But, It is very windy conditions at our camp site, and we are concerned about pulling the trailer in such high winds.  No internet at our site so we drove the truck a couple miles closer to Interstate 80 and checked weather conditions on the Drive Weather app.  Much less windy on 80 heading to Battle Mountain NV, our next destination.  Pulled out at 9:22 AM and arrived at Clark Park in the afternoon for a quick one-nighter to do laundry.  Chores have to be done no matter where you are!

After 3 days of little to no internet access we have internet – so exciting!

Clark Park is basically a gravel parking lot, but very well done. Neat, clean, full hook-ups, quiet. The laundry facilities were very nice. Nothing special about the place but it was exactly what we needed.

Had a little rain but mostly just enough to make little mud spots all over the truck.

This was a basic RV park, but done nicely.

In a previous post I mentioned we had run down the batteries overnight and I wasn't sure how that happened... welll, I think I figured it out...

Our fridge and freezer can run on either propane or shore power (120v house current). You can choose one or the other, or choose AUTO - which will automatically switch to 120V shore power if it's available.

When I use the inverter and create 120VAC from our 12VDC batteries, the fridge sees this and thinks, great, I'll use the 110... and that drained the batteries.

So I need to make sure the fridge is running on gas each night.
