Monday, 9-23-24 Day 14
Bryce Canyon National Park
Ruby's Inn and RV Campground, Bryce Canyon City UT
Below 32 degrees overnight and ice on the truck bed cover this morning! Bill started the bike ride with 3 hats - bike helmet, knit cap and baseball cap…..dork...correction, warm dork.
Drove to the park and left the truck and trailer in the overflow parking lot where RV’s and trailers are able to park. (The signs said no overnight parking... but the park is open 24/7, so some clever people came and parked after the Park Rangers left, about 5 or 6, and then just stayed the rest of the night. A pretty good park hack, I thought)
We cycled the Shared Path (pedestrian, bike, etc) to Inspiration Point. It was a wonderful ride past the Lodge and through the woods, we were the only people on the path out to the Point. Cool air, no wind and smooth pathway.
Rode back to the trailer, loaded bikes and had sautéed veg
and scrambled eggs brunch using the fresh eggs
we bought at Welcome Station campground.
Arrived at Ramada Inn Laverkin, UT. It was less expensive to stay at the Ramada than an RV site in Zion National Park! (and there wasn't much room either) The hotel has a huge parking lot and we are able to park the truck and trailer on site. We each packed a bag and moved into our room. It is so HOT…neither of us can imagine hiking in this weather. We are about 20-30 minutes from Zion. They have the usual very informative website. But, it seems complicated to move around and difficult to figure out when and where to park and if cars are allowed at all!
We came up with a game plan for our first day at Zion!
